Sitting on my desk at home, is a Google Nest Hub 2 which displays a slideshow of many photos that I have personally taken over the years. It brought back bittersweet memories of family, friends, work, travel and adventure. Sure the Nest Hub does a little bit more than display photos. You can control other Google Home products, you can ask it to play music, you can make phone and video calls and you can even set it to monitor your sleep pattern (although I turned this off).
That said, I use it mostly to display photos and as a Chromecast speaker. For its size, the sound comes out quite nice. You can feel the bass and some treble from it. It’s a pretty sturdy device too as evidenced by my youngest kid dropping it too more times than I liked from the desk with hardly a scratch. Would recommend it for sure if you’re looking for an affordable yet functional smart display.
